Welcome to the new CHISSL soccer web site!

CHISSL - (Cecil & Harford Intermediate Spring Soccer League) CHISSL is a spring soccer league for Harford & Cecil County boys and girls of middle school age. The league was formed to prepare children for high school soccer. Middle school boys & girls teams play two games during the week after school. Boys games are played on Mon & Wed, Girls games are played on Tue & Thurs. All games are after 5:15 PM.

Junior Varsity teams (JV) consist of 6th and 7th graders, in some cases 5th graders, with good soccer skills, may play JV. Varsity teams consist of 8th graders and in some cases 7th graders may play Varsity.

CHISSL teams are organized based upon the middle school attended by players. If your school does not field a team then your child will play for the next closest middle school. CHISSL is affiliated with Harford County Parks and Rec and is not associated with the school system. So, while the players will be on teams with their schoolmates, their teachers and school staff will NOT be able to answer any questions about the league.

Wow...what an exciting tournament! 12 games were won by 2 goals or less, there were 5 Double OT Shootouts
We have received a total of 112 emails with compelling reason for your team to "Play on the Turf".
The girls got off to a sizable lead but the boys started to catch up with creativity and volume of emails.
Both Girls teams win but Coach Steve Sullivan (Boys JV Fallston) and Dan Weber (Dad) made it interesting.
Winning email posted below.

Well here goes...
*Our, (the girls) uniforms will stay cleaner...much more appealing to the boys on the dirty smelly grass
*Dirty boys are more appealing to the girls... the rough, tough, manly look
*Girls will look more graceful, showing our sleek speed on the turf...
*Girls are more likely to keep our 'nails' clean, the cost of good nail salon is ridiculous with the recession.
And it is just fair, that girls get what they want, marriage is in most futures and boys need to learn to give the girls what they want!  Lori

I just think, that "girls should always get what they want", isn't that good for the boys to learn NOW!

My name is Sierrah Taylor and I play on the North Harford/Fallston CHISSL Soccer team.  I just wanted to say that I would love to get the opportunity to play our championship game on the turf soccer field this evening.  This is a BIG game and I am so excited about playing.  It would mean so much to me and the rest of my teammates to play our last game of the season on the turf field.

Most importantly though is that I am coached by two of the most amazing coaches.  When I first signed up for CHISSL we knew that we did not have enough in our school to form a team.  It would have been very easy for Coach Neil to say we do not have enough to play.  Instead he got with North Harford and he and Coach Bob willingly agreed to combine the two teams; thankfully so because we have had a pretty successful year both on and off the field.  They both came together and really helped all of us improve as soccer players.  The best thing about this year has been the friends that I have made that I would not have had the opportunity to make without CHISSL. I have met some pretty amazing girls, from North Harford, who love soccer like I do.

This will probably be the last time I get a chance to play soccer with these same girls, so I am asking you to give us the opportunity to play our last game together on the Turf Field.  I know it would mean a lot to both my teammates and my coaches.

Thanks for your consideration,  Sierrah Taylor

Close...but no cigar

Though I coach the Fallston Boys JV team I am also a parent of a player that plays both Fallston JV and Varsity and so I wanted to chime in as to why the Fallston Boys should play on the turf tonight.

It concerns the "bubble boy" on our team. That's right, we have a player that's allergic to grass and so only gets to watch the games from the car when we play on grass fields. He is used to watching most games from his moms passenger seat and does not complain. In fact this gives him time to organize the cleats, shinguards, and soccer balls that he collects for the "pass back" soccer program where disadvantaged kids are given gently used soccer equipment. That is our "bubble boy" - selfless and stoic in the face of his malady. He would be to modest to ask to play on the turf field himself, which is why I am writing you on his behalf. Please allow Fallston to play on the turf - not for me, not for my son or the other players, but for the Fallston Bubble Boy.  Thank you for your consideration,  Steve Sullivan

From a purely ground keeping perspective, Due to the abundance of rain this spring and the fields being a little soft, it would help keep the grass fields in better shape if the Boy's Varsity played on the tuff field. Since on average, the Boy's Varsity
players are larger and stronger they would tend to tear up the grass fields more. Whereas the artificial surface is designed to handle the larger players.  Or how about a limerick.

Being in the finals is great.
The choice is field 12 or field 8
Grass is the best,
for all the rest,
considering the Boys varsity's weight.
